Gil Narvaez - Staff Instructor
Gil Narvaez is a highly accomplished professional with a rich background in martial arts and a deep passion for performance shooting. With an impressive 26+ years of experience, Gil's journey started as a Marine and later led him to a distinguished career in law enforcement. He recently retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (NC) as a Lieutenant, where he held the esteemed position of a North Carolina Justice Academy state certified Law Enforcement Firearms and Subject Control Arrest Techniques Instructor. Currently, he serves as a reserve officer with Mecklenburg County Alcohol Beverage Control Law Enforcement.
Gil's expertise extends to various disciplines, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai (striking art), and competition shooting, which he skillfully incorporates into personalized personal protection and firearms instruction. As an NRA Pistol Instructor and Range Officer, NC State Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, and NC State Law Enforcement Subject Control Instructor, Gil possesses a diverse set of professional certifications.
He also proudly serves as a Staff Instructor for the esteemed Modern Samurai Project, further contributing to the development and training of shooting enthusiasts. Gil's mastery is evident in his IDPA Carry Optics Division Master Class shooter status and USPSA Carry Optics A Class shooter ranking, reflecting his prowess and dedication to competition shooting.
In addition to his impressive accomplishments, Gil holds the esteemed title of a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt, training under the renowned Team Steve Hall/Royce Gracie - Fight To Win BJJ. He also boasts the Level 1 Muay Thai practitioner designation from Black Belt USA, a distinguished World Thai Boxing Association Affiliate.
