Russ Lyons is a highly accomplished law enforcement professional with an impressive 25-year career at the Cleveland Division of Police. From 1996 to 2021, he held various pivotal roles, starting with Basic Patrol where he served in the 6th and 3rd Districts.

 

In 2002, Russ moved to the Firearms Training Section, where his expertise in In-Service Training Development played a crucial role in the successful adoption of the Patrol Rifle program and its curriculum.

 

With a passion for tactical operations, Russ joined the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team in 2013, where he excelled as an Operator, Sniper, and Firearms Trainer.

Beyond his exemplary service with the Cleveland Division of Police, Russ continues to contribute to both civilian and law enforcement training and tactics. He is currently a Staff Instructor at the esteemed Modern Samurai Project, imparting advanced knowledge to individuals nationwide.

 

Since 2014, Russ has been an invaluable member of the Ohio Tactical Officers Association (O.T.O.A.), where he serves as a Red Team Cadre member, leading in RDS instruction, Advanced S.W.A.T. training, and Advanced Team Training.

 

Moreover, Russ has been associated with Center Mass Incorporated since 2005 as a Contract and Staff Instructor, sharing his expertise as a Lead RDS Instructor and Semi-Auto and Carbine Instructor.
